Cardiovascular Alterations

About the Research Positive Impact on our Earth
 
The Cardiovascular Alterations Team is determining the effects of long-duration spaceflight on the heart and blood vessels and developing novel screening methods and therapies to maintain cardiovascular health.

The team is addressing:

  • Non-gravity dependent aerobic exercise devices and protocols
  • Pharmacological and nutritional interventions for maintaining aerobic capacity and muscle conditioning
  • Early screening and prevention of cardiovascular disease
  • Effects of radiation on the lining of the vessels
