Technology Commercialization Workshop
Date: May 30, 2009
Time: 7:30 am - 3 pm
Place: Hotel Zaza, 5701 Main Street,
Houston, Texas 77005
Scope:
NSBRI is committed to facilitating the application of its funded space-related research to benefit life on earth. One avenue is to familiarize its academic researchers with the steps required to successfully move scientific discoveries from bench to market and to provide access to business experts and the investor community.
NSBRI Industry Forum enlisted a team of local and out-of-town business leaders to present lectures that address certain germane topics such as entrepreneur lessons learned, Intellectual property protection, effective communication with university technology transfer offices, ethical conflicts of interest, gap funding for applied research and business development activities, and production and regulatory considerations.
NSBRI-funded investigators with advanced research programs were invited to attend and network. The speaker presentations and Q & A sessions were video-recorded and are posted below.
A survey of participants indicated that the return on their investment of time spent at the workshop was very good (score of 4 out of 5 possible points) and 100-percent said that they would return for a follow-on workshop. In addition, as a result of this one-day event, discussions between academic attendees and potential investors have taken place.
