Smart Medical Systems & Technology

About the Research Positive Impact on our Earth

  • Noninvasive, simplified diagnostic and therapeutic devices enable point-of-care treatment by non-physicians. The approach also facilitates remote medical care by health care providers treating patients in inaccessible locations such as rural areas, battlefields and ambulances en route to hospitals.

  • The advanced ultrasound technology being developed by NSBRI to image and accelerate fracture healing by stimulating bone regeneration may prove to be a valuable tool for health providers caring for a growing elderly population.

  • Metabolic sensing can be incorporated into standard emergency care to assess patients with traumatic injuries and those at risk for cardiovascular collapse. First responders might use this technology to quickly assess a patient's condition and provide feedback to help guide the most effective treatment.
